Where to go and what to do during your stay in Cornwall.
There are many places to visit during your stay in Cornwall and also, for really fit among you, there are some great coastal paths to walk. Then in the latter part of the season we welcome the bird watching fraternity (twitchers) for the birds annual migration. Close by to Bolankan Cottage there is Geevor Tin Mine(www.geevor.com), once a working tin mine till it was shut down in the late 80's, now a museum dedicated to those who went underground. Geevor Tin Mine and surrounding area has been awarded World Heritage Status! A short drive from the cottage is Porthcurno Telegraph Museum (www.porthcurno.org.uk), since 1870 linking The British Isles with the rest of the world via cables under the sea, until the introduction of sattelites. The Minack Theatre is but a stones throw away with productions from May to September and the visitor centre is open all year. (www.minack.com) There is plenty to do for the kids with Flambards at Helston (www.flambards.co.uk) and Paradise Park near Hayle, (www.paradisepark.org.uk) plus many other attractions of which information is available in special packs in your room.
And last but not least who would not want to go to the very tip of England with a visit to
Lands End (www.landsend-landmark.co.uk). Visitors to Lands End can experience the spectacular firework displays every tuesday & Thursday throughout August. New for 2007 at Lands End, the Dr Who Exhibition, open from Easter. Well worth a visit-recommended by Lynn & her grandchildren!
How would you fancy a helicopter ride? Isles of Scilly day trips by helicopter from Penzance heliport or skybus from Lands End airport. The airport is situated 1/4 mile from Bolankan Cottage. Scenic flights are also from the airport. Alternatively if you want a sea trip to the Isles, the ferry sails from Penzance from April to October.
